New process to
obtain accreditation for
your military experience and skills.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)

As specified in the Accreditation Contracts section of the Canadian Defence Academy (CDA) web site, Collège Ahuntsic is no longer required, by contract, to evaluate military experience and skills on an individual basis, for the purpose of producing a transcript for members of the military who do not plan to enrol in a programme at Collège Ahuntsic.  This specific service is therefore no longer offered as of April 12th, 2010.

When planning to enrol in a collegial programme, one must first contact the college of his or her own choice.  Information on other colleges can be obtained by visiting the web site of the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC).  Note that the acceptance of Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) from another institution is at the sole discretion of the accepting institution, and that most colleges and universities across Canada have their own PLAR programme.

For more details on the Military Civilian Training Accreditation Programme (MCTAP), you are invited to visit the web site of the Canadian Defence Academy.  In their evaluation of Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR), individuals and institutions across Canada can also consult the Canadian Forces Equivalency Database (CFED), or our Equivalency Wizard (the latter will remain in operation until June 30th, 2010).

For more information on this change you can contact the Collège Ahuntsic Educational Advisor at 514-389-5921, Ext. 2130 or 1-866-389-5921, Ext. 2130.
